“Our house in Preah Vihear”. Back In Cambodia....

We have returned to Cambodia as of December ’09. We returned in time to attend the CCH Christmas program. This is one of the highlights for the Khmer Christians as it is a holiday that they can actually participate in and enjoy. They welcomed over 200 guests and their guest Khmer speaker from Siem Reap gave one of the clearest gospel presentations. It is rare to see such a large audience give their undivided attention during a fairly long ‘sermon’, but that is what we witnessed that evening. Praise God with us, and pray as God continues to grow his church in PV province.

As you can see from the ‘broken bridge’ picture above, the challenges of travel to and from PV still exist. The road from Phnom Penh to Preah Vihear is being worked on and we hope to see it completely paved in a year (we’ll see). But road crews abound and new bridges are being built to replace the old ones. We are hopeful!

Jacob celebrated his 8th birthday in December with good friends – the Drebeses, Annissa and PV teammate, Susan. The kids are still being home schooled while we are in the city and seem to be doing well. They are anxious to return to PV!

John and Gloria Wilson, veteran missionaries to the Yali people of Papua with World Team, spent a week in Preah Vihear hearing about our ministry and giving us ideas and thoughts on how to move forward in the work. We are so grateful for their insights and are ready to make plans to help our church grow in leadership and discipleship in particular. Thanks John and Gloria!

We are staying in Phnom Penh for some time before moving back to PV full time. We will make frequent trips to PV and join our team for meetings, but have work here in Phnom Penh which will aid our team. We will be helping our PV team to do some research while we are in the city, Jim will seek to get trained in TEE (theological education by extension – a method of training pastors in remote areas in theological education), and we will prepare to teach a Christian marriage and family course to our PV brothers and sisters. We’re excited about the work we have to do here but are anxious to get back to PV as soon as possible.
